The MTC Life- Week #1

Hola! I have officially been in the Mexico MTC now for 8 days. I swear it has been a couple months. It was SO hard saying bye to the fam. I have taught five 25 minute lessons in spanish to investigators, taught sunday school, gone to the Mexico City Temple, eaten tortillas too many times to count, almost mastered the 282 list of basic core words used as a missionary, probably said over 100 prayers, and do not understand most of what my teacher says until she repeats it in english. My companion is Elder Marchant from Bluffdale, Utah. I got here last Tuesday in a RAINSTORM. I like my district a lot. There are 4 pairs of elders and 1 pair of hermanas. Me, mycomp, and another set of elders are going to Concepcion. The others are all either going to Viña Del Mar, Chile or Quito, Ecuador. They are all from the states. One missionary in my district literally cannot say anything right...it is almost a joke now. He says hola like HOLLLLAAA whats up! In class FridayI had a laughing attack for no apparent reason and everyone just stared at me haha. The MTC prez knows my name! His daughter is going to my mission too! The choir director tracked me down and asked if I would sing a musical number in a fireside while here! I said yes.

Two things that hit me this week. If I am being totally honest, this week was rough. The schedule, language, food, people, companion, and lifestyle are so different. I was in devotional Sunday and we watched the clip from "Facing the Giants" where the football player does the death crawl across the field. The MTC prez related it back to the mission. A MISSION IS HARD. I was not as prepared as I thought I was. However, we can do hard things through christ. The other was the definition of missionary: someone who leaves their family for a short time so that others may be with their family for eternity. My family are my best friends. They keep me going. If I can help others be with their families, then it is so worth it.

I really appreciate all the letters I have gotten. Friday I was feeling really down and I opened up my mailbox and was able to read letters! You can send me letters for FREE using this website: mtcmexicomcarepackage.com or google: missionarypackagemx. They are printed and delivered SAME DAY. Love you guys so much! I promise my emails will be shorter, but it is the first week so I had a lot to say!
