Week #12

Ok first off it is blazing hot here and it is only spring. Everyone says it will get way hotter... yay missionary life is the best walking outside in the sun all day.... haha but actually it is great. So this week was so different. I got my new comp and since I am still here and he is new I had to direct the sector, which is not normal for someone in training haha. SO we got lost a few times but know we know where we are going! My comp has 14 months in the mission and he is super nice. He is ALWAYS singing. I thought I was bad. Now I get what people mean when they say it is annoying hahaha. So this week was all about planting seeds for us. We literally have like every problem with our investigators. One guys we talked to tried to commmit suicide 3 times and we taught him about Peace. He is NEVER home so it is difficult to find him. Another investigator likes what we are teaching, but her aunt had her funeral at the church and she refuses to go to the church as she remembers the ...

My comp`is getting transferred  tomorrow ! I will recieve a new comp..... GRINGO again haha from Independence Missouri. His name is Elder Richey. He has a little more than a year in the mish. He will finish my training. Also he is really good at singing so we will def be having some duets in church and singing in lessons. Let me tell you the HEAT HAS COME OUT. I am constantly sweating. Also the letters on this keyboard are not actually visible so please excuse my grammer. Fun things: 1. I had like 5 people call me Donald Trump this week because I am blonde.  2. People do not clean thier dogs here so the sleep in the eyes stays and there are thick lines all down their faces where it has stained their fur. 3. I dont know how I have not told you guys this but the power goes out in my house at least once a day. I think the record once was like 10. 4. We had an open chapel yesterday for people to see our chapel and how it works. I was in the baptismal font area.... ...

Week #10

How are you all! I promise I will try my best to get pictures sent this week. I think they should come. Fun facts. 1. Nobody knows their number here. We ask them and they have it taped on the back of their phone or they have to go inside to look it up haha. 2. Juice here is just water and powder. like lemonade, but with every flavor. 3. EVERY empanada has ONE olive at one side of it. It is I guess a tradition or something to find the olive inside. It is like a treasure hunt inside your food. 4. This week I did not understand what a woman was saying to us and my companion whispered to me to ask a question. All I knew was that they were talking about her husband and things they liked to. I asked where is your husband right now. Her response.... in the ground. Dead. I felt so awkward because I had no idea they were talking about that..... 5. Every week at church in scarament metting at the same minute the evangelical church next door starts playing and singing praises of hal...

Week #9 Spiritual Feast- October 2nd 2017

Ok! SO THIS WEEKEND WAS AMAZING. We basically hung out at the church all day as we were at the stake center, not our church, and it is really far. I was there from  8 am to 7:30 pm  yesterday. I really loved conference. It is really typical of a missionary to say this, but i paid so much more attention and felt like i could learn something from every talk. Luckily, i got ot watch 4 of the sessions in english and 1 was in spanish. What i really got out of conference is that there are no coincidences and mircales exist today, that it is literally impossible for Joseph Smith to have translated the BOM without God´s help, and that we often to need to fix what is already broken (for example wards, families, friends, and communities). I loved the talk on how everything happens for a reason. God knows exactly what we can handle and what we need when we need it. Why do some people have harder trials than others, why do some people die and others not. It really made me reflec...

Week #8: Two Month Mark!!

This week was awesome. We had 2 baptisms on Saturday. Scarlett and Matias. They are my favorite family here. They feed us every time we go over and their are willing to try to actually talk to me despite my poor spanish speaking skills. My comp and his former comp had alreadybeen teaching them for about 2 months before I got here, so he baptized the mom and the dad baptyized the son (the dad is the x of the wife... their story is so complicated). But I sang a duet at the service. Sunday was Branch conference, so everyone from the closest 4 cities took buses here because nobody has cars and the room was packed! My mish prez and his wife came and spoke and during the sacrament me and my comp and the branch president were able to give them both the gift of the holy ghost! We asked them both how they felt after to be a member of the church and they both lit up with smiling faces and felt it was such a special day. The family came to the baptism as well, and they said it was beautiful so...

Week #7

ALOHA. I miss hawaii this week as it randomly got REALLY hot. It is always cold in the morning and night but the HEAT came during the day. Ok wow I always freak out when I am writing because I always have so many things happen and I have so little time. BUT sorry no pics this week, I forogt my chord. Anyways in no specific order there are some crazy things. So missionaies dont eat dinner here. We eat a freakishly large lunch, like very large, and i swear I am going to explode after after time i eat. Andyou have to eat it all. Not gonna lie, I have stuffed some things in my pocket. So we eat at  1:30  with members and then eat a snack when we get home at  9:30 . Also today is Chile's independance day (equiv of our  4th of july ). So I guess it a law here that everyone has to have a chile flag in their window or hanging up outside or you will get a ticket, so we had to go buy one under the direction of the mish prez. BUT i was trying to learn my vocab and i acciden...
