Week #9 Spiritual Feast- October 2nd 2017
Ok! SO THIS WEEKEND WAS AMAZING. We basically hung out at the church all day as we were at the stake center, not our church, and it is really far. I was there from 8 am to 7:30 pm yesterday. I really loved conference. It is really typical of a missionary to say this, but i paid so much more attention and felt like i could learn something from every talk. Luckily, i got ot watch 4 of the sessions in english and 1 was in spanish. What i really got out of conference is that there are no coincidences and mircales exist today, that it is literally impossible for Joseph Smith to have translated the BOM without God´s help, and that we often to need to fix what is already broken (for example wards, families, friends, and communities). I loved the talk on how everything happens for a reason. God knows exactly what we can handle and what we need when we need it. Why do some people have harder trials than others, why do some people die and others not. It really made me reflect on all of the "coincidences" that have happended in my life. For example, how nobody in my life got injured in my severe car crash just amonth before my mission and how my sister could have gone blind in her eye if she didnt have the procedures and machines she needed asap. There are SO many in our life big or small that happen everyday. We need to look out for them. It is a test of faith when the big ones come. It is our attitude on everything that affects the outcome. I also loved the talks on Joseph Smith. There was one in particular where he basically shut down every theory that people have of how it could be false. It has SO many answers to SO many questions. Not only is it really good, but it is super intersting about the history of the people in the americas. I also liked the talk on fixing things. Se said something alng the lines of whats the point of saving the world if whats right in front of you in broken. We need to be more observant in our lives of loved ones, firends and family, who may be struggling. EVERYONE has struggles and needs an earthly angel to help lift them up. We are his servants here on earth and we should help those in need and not in need because nobody knows what someone is going through besides the person and jesus christ, who literally suffered the same feeling in the garden of gethsemane. One thing I have learned in the mission is the power of prayer. It is so simple and so easy. He is always there. As an apostle said, he never sleeps or slumbers. He is always listening and you should never feel like you should have to do something alone because of HIM. There was A LOT of other really good talk, if you did not get a chance to watch.... I recommend it!
Other than that we had 8 investigators come to Conf! One of them loved it and he was gong to come back the next day and then we called him the next day and he said dont come back to my house. He had talked to his wife who does not like mormons. But on the other hand, that guy Hugo... WE coldn´t find him all week. So went one more time to his house, and his dad came out and said he moved to Argentina 3 hours after we talked to him the week before because we inspired him to change his life and get away from his drugy friends. We told him to look for the missionaries there!
Random things I have noticed:
1. Everything here is peach flavored.
2. They say tarde, not noche for anything evern if it is 10 at night
3. Literally there are so many streets here with name president ibañez in it
4. there are parks in every little neighborhood. I pass like 20 a day.
5. They dont eat tomato skin here. Every tomato on a plate of food is peeled.
6. DOGS are scary. Someone in my house got bit the other day and I almost got bitten last night.
I love you all so much. This place is not working for pictures sadly. I have my camera and pics all ready. I love the emails and your prayers and support. I miss you all but love chile too! Till next week. Hopefully I will be able to send pictures!
