Nov. 27th
I officially finished my 12 weeks of training! We recieved tranfer calls last night and my comp and I are staying in Linares! Whoooo I will be with my amazing branch for christmas and new years! I hope you all had a great thanksgiving! ALSO SHOUTOUT TO MY SISTER FOR REVEALING THE GENDER OF HER BABY. i WILL BE AN UNCLE TO BABY NUMBER 2 IN THE FAM (GIRL).
Random.
1: The grading scale for school in chile is out of 7. It is so much easier in america.
2: There are randomly naked barbie dolls EVERYWHERE here. Like evry house has one.
3: FROZEN JELLO. So good.
4: I was putting on chapstick and this member saw me and he gave me a wierd look. He thought it was lipstick. I tried to explain what chapstick was but he had no idea what it was.... So I think he just thinks I am wierd.
5: Pan de Pascua is in season. Fruit bread. It is wierdly good. I never liked it in america and none of the gringos like it here but I find it yummy. I had the best cake this week with actually good frosting.
6: Speaking of bread..... Remember my goal last week not to eat bread one day and I failed. WELL. This week I had the goal to not to eat bread the WHOLE week and I SUCCEEDED. Go meeeee.
7: My branch president is officially the coolest guy ever. he is in SEVEN of the worldwide mormon videos. The mothers day one. He is the guy for day 5 of "Light the World" where he is helping his mom. He is in the easter video. He is bomb. So smart. Wow. What a dude.
8: Taught a muslim from Syria and she started the lesson with only her eyes poking out from the door and the lesson ended with her praying with us and giving us these egyptian papyrus gifts! It made me even more stoked to go to BYU Jerusalem.
9: Taught a man who was shot 15 days ago and he is just so happy to be alive. Just needs to know what church is true. Then we visited a family and they told us their son tried to kill them so he is going to jail. I feel so bad them!
This week was quite the week. First off, for sure the worst thanksgiving of my life (not because it was a bad day haha just cause they do not celebrate it here). We have a new goal here in Linares. As they are trying to make the district become a stake, they need to update all the records of members and WOW are there A LOT of inactive members. What we have to do is go to all the members homes who do not come to church and get their address, email, name, and age. And if they do not want to keep the records then they are going to be erased. So the next few weeks are going to be a lot of working with nonactives.
This week was for sure a miracle. Someone in our ward had a epeleptic attack when leaving with the sisters. The crazy thing is that I was with him the day before on divisions for 6 hours. THAT COULD HAVE BEEN ME AND I HAD NO PHONE AND DO NOT KNOW SPANISH WELL ENOUGH TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED IN AN EMERGENCY. We rushed over and rode in the ambulance with him to the hospital. He is all good but it for sure brought back all the memories of the car crash!
Scrip of week: 2 Nephi 9: 50-51. The gospel is meant for everyone. Everyone is invited to follow christ and follow his teachings. The gospel brings such direction in our lives. We feel a sense of purpose, knowing that there IS a point to this life and there IS a way that we should live because there IS a life after death because He IS real. As thanksgiving passed, I am so beyond grateful I was born into an active family who has been an example to me. Shoutout to the Nord Nest for literally being my besties. I strive to be like you all. Count your blessings daily in prayer! It makes you so much more grateful for all the tender mercies you have been given!
