Week #13: Life in Linares
Fun facts: FIRST OFF. I AM OFFICIALLY REGISTERED FOR BYU FALL 2019. #seeyouin2provo.
1. Cookies and crackers mean the same word here (galleta) so I never know if I am buying something sweet or savory (unless it is obvious).
2. EVERYONE here wears Maui and Sons and they have no idea what Maui is and I always want to talk about Hawaii but they never know where or what it is.
3. People are BLUNT. A couple times they just say why do you suck at spanish compared to him (my comp) haha.
4. People greet here by kissing on the cheek but missionaries cannot do that so everyone time someone tries to kiss us you have to either keep your hand really firm and not let them come closer or like back away. It is so awkward cause they keep trying.
5. Nobody knows what Lacrosse is. It is a foreign sport to them.
6. Someone came up to me this week and called me brad pitt. and then told me i looked like a barbie doll and felt my hair.
7. We got to watch the Cokeville Miracle last P day. Movie about angels in our lives. So true. I know our ancestors are watching over us and helping us when we are in difficult times.
8. We went to Lider (the biggest store here) and I found TRIX CEREAL I am such a kid.
This week had its ups and downs. Our members canceled on 4 days in a row to teach with us, so nearly impossible to meet our goals. A pastor yelled at us for teaching someone. I kindly responded that we all have our own agency here and our only purpose is to share our message with others for them to know if it is true. He was SO rude.
Fav Scrip of Week: Revelations 7: 13-15. (temples)
This week I focused on temples. Our branch had a temple trip to santiago on saturday. We could not go as it is out of our mission, but we loved hearing about all their experiences. Wereally take for granted having temples so close in the USA. It costs them a lot to go and some people can only afford to go every other year. A lot of the recent converts went for the first time and they came back just filled with joy. There was a sealing and the branch came back a lot more strong. It was a good push for the missionary work here. The temple is such a good goal to have. In order to enter the temple, a literal house of the lord, we have to be obeying all the commandments. I am so grateful for this knowledge and my experience to attend more a couple times. I challenge you all to go to the temple in the month of November (if you can) as I know it draws us closer to our Heavenly Father. The gardens and beauty there itself have such a strong spirit. I lovetalking about temples with families because every time we teach it. Their faces light up as they obviously want to live with their families for eternity.
Love you all!
