1. We found a witch this week. She legit took an oath to not follow God.
2. My comp woke up Friday and was sick so we stayed in the house saturday morning. Watched all the sessions of general conference. Then fast forward to Wednesday night... my comp was sick again and president called us to stay in all day again Thursday and then until 3 pm on Friday. I was so bored haha bc the sick person is allowed to sleep but the companion that is healthy is not allowed sleep, so I just had to sit there all day studying the scriptures, watching church movies, and then checking the fridge every 5 mins to see what I could eat (SPOILER: the food options inside never changed but I kept looking). Our mission president's wife is from Taiwan and she is obsessed with garlic. Her home remedy and response for every pain is just "TOME AJO" or "take garlic". Which is hilarious because our mission nurse is from Northern California and does not agree with the majority of the health advice that the mission president's wife gives but she just smiles and tells us to do as we are told HAHA. #help
3. We went to the temple again for the open house but this time we got a personal tour because I knew the tour guide. JUST SAYING: The bride's room is dope. Why is there no groom's room haha.
4. There was one night that Elder Wood and I just talked about how excited we were to go on roller coasters after the mission. haha #nosepreocupe #nottrunky
5. We have really raised the excitement to have activities here. This last week we had the culture night and almost 20 people came. Normally like 0-2 people come. I made BBQ chicken to represent the states and most of the people thought it was gross. IT WAS SO GOOD. One woman said, [I find this sauce absolutely disgusting[ haha people here just like everything bland so they cannot take american flavors. Then this week we had a talent show. I sang "Hallelujah" in spanish and everyone loved it. They want me to sing in church now haha.
6. We left to visit people with the recycle woman of the ward, Tatiana. She goes around the town to all the dumps and picks up cardboard in her tricycle cart. We were on a time crunch to visit all the people in our plans and she was going kinda slow so I gave her my bike and I rode her tricycle mounted with cardboard all over Quillon. Everyone was laughing at me cause I was hauling with this thing and almost crashed like 3 times. But hey it worked out.
7. People really are blessed when they leave to visit people with the missionaries. I have seen so many tender mercies and huge miracles that have happened when members accompany us to our appointments. It is our number one responsibility as members to teach the gospel, with or without a nametag. I know we always hear this but realistically go make a list of people who genuinely need the gospel. I already have a list of like 10 people of who I want to share the gospel with when I get home. It might take time to think, but it is so worth it
8. GENERAL CONFERENCE WOW. That is just the best weekend as a missionary. We watched it in the chapel in the secretary office in english with the american missionaries.
9. MIRACLE: We were knocking on Saturday and we found a couple semi-interested people. Well I saw a lady leave her house to go buy food about 3 houses down. When we get to that house... I still knocked it in case someone else was there. The lady came out from the market in front of her house screaming. After about 6 seconds we realized she was a mute and cannot speak so she just communicates by "blah"ing and "uh"ing. Well you could see how this situation could be difficult if she cannot answer any of our questions. Normally in a situation where I do not think the person will actually progress I give them a pic of Jesus or a pamphlet and part my way. But for some reason I tried to understand her and somehow we got her number and committed her to go to church )the explaining part of where the church was ended up being difficult haha. Anyways, Sunday morning rolls around and we go to our 3 best people to wake them up-make sure they go to church. All 3 could not go. With about 20 mins left, we rushed to all the other people that said yes. Nobody answered. We get to the church and I start saying hello to everyone (there have been tons of visitors because of the temple dedication) and all of the sudden I hear a (bahhh) and (errrrr) and I look up and sure enough the mute lady is sitting in the second to last row of the chapel. I was SHOCKED. My comp and I looked at each other like is this really happening. I have never had anyone come to church alone in my whole mission that we had just contacted once. People here take LOTS of convincing and they legit need physical help (like us going and getting them) for them to come to church. Long story short: I sat next to her, she sang the hymns just kind of blahing, stayed all 3 hours, and then we showed her the baptismal font when church ended to commit her to baptism and she just glowed up when she saw it... like a 4 year old when they get to go to chuckee cheese... and then she SIGNED HER BAPTISMAL FORM right then and there in front of the baptismal font and is on date for November 4th (and that is how we figured out what her name is). I basically feel like I am always playing charades with her. I really hope she actually understands everything, so we are going to be praying real hard and finding creative ways to teach.
